Leak Location

When a leak is detected the leak location analysis begins. The system analyzes the system parameters to estimate the location of the leak. The calculated location of the leak is then alarmed and displayed on the batch profile screen using the oil can icon. This screen capture below show a leak at milepost 277.8.

LT 2000 has a second method for location determination and that is the leak locator display. Leak locator display will show where the station the pressure drop is most prevalent. This display identifies the approximate pipeline location should LT 2000 not be able to calculate a milepost. This display is a product of maintaining the linepack calculation for each station along a pipeline.

LT 2000 has a third method for determining the approximate leak location and that is using the pressure graph. By using the graph you can see how the pressure deviation progressed up and down the pipeline from the leak.
